Rural Retreats & Leisure - “Hospitality at its Best”

We are Rural Retreats & Leisure UK Ltd, a young, rapidly growing hospitality management company based on the English / Welsh Border.

We have already tasted significant success with an award for Best New Start Up at the prestigious 2011 Powys Business Awards for The Knighton Hotel, and we continue to promote this winning formula throughout our expanding property portfolio, priding ourselves on quality of service, which is why our guests return time and time again.

Our goal is to become the best Independent Hospitality Provider in Wales, big enough to make a difference but still small enough to care for our individual guests on a personal level. We intend to achieve this by concentrating on great food and first class service, delivered in properties with charm and character.

Our Properties

At Rural Retreats & Leisure we pride ourselves on the quality, character and charm of our establishments. We run a growing number of prestigious and bespoke properties across North and Mid Wales, as well as owning several others around Shropshire and The Borders which are run under separate tenancy.

Although our properties may be very different, they all share two common aspects: The high quality of their amenities, and an unequalled degree of hospitality that is the very core of our corporate ethos.

Plas Glynllifon - Caernarfon

This magnificent and historic building is a recent acquisition, and will become Rural Retreats' flagship hotel, when work on it is completed in 2020.

Once home to the Lords Newborough, and host to His Royal Highness Charles, Prince of Wales' Investiture Ball on June 1st 1969, following the ceremony in nearby Caernarfon Castle, this truly stunning, Grade 1 listed, Regency Mansion had fallen on hard times. Having been utilised as a college for some years by the local council, and subsequently falling into disuse, there is a lot of work required to return this stately old building back to its former glory.

Under the guiding hand of Rural Retreats, and our sister company, Rural Retreats & Development, the sympathetic reconstruction work is currently under way.

Seiont Manor Hotel - Snowdonia

Rural Retreats & Leisure are thrilled to announce their latest signing - Seiont Manor Hotel

This picturesque, rural Country House Hotel built from local stone cut from the Snowdonian hills into which it seems to merge, was originally an 18th Century working farmstead. While the exterior and surrounding countryside have changed little over the years, the interior bears no resemblance to its humble beginnings.

Seiont Manor boasts 28 guest rooms, an award winning restaurant, large conference / function room, indoor swimming pool, sauna and mini gymnasium.

The Radnorshire Arms Hotel - Presteigne

The Radnorshire Arms Hotel provides the perfect setting for a quiet getaway, or as a base from which to venture out and explore the stunning local scenery.

Scant yards from the English border and nestled amidst rolling, Welsh hills and wonderful open countryside, this Grade II listed building, with its wealth of original exposed beams and timber panelled walls, exudes an atmosphere of classic Tudor elegance.

'The Rad' is our oldest property, in both senses. It was Rural Retreats' first acquisition, and it dates back to the late 16th Century. The incredible sense of history which hangs over the building has made it a firm favourite with both locals and visitors wishing to discover the glorious and often turbulent past of this part of the Welsh Borders.

The Knighton Hotel - Knighton

The Award Winning Knighton Hotel is a stunning Georgian building which dominates the centre of the ancient market town of Knighton, Powys.

In 2011, The Knighton Hotel won the Award for 'Best New Start-up of the Year' at the prestigious Powys Business Award Ceremony in Newtown. In the intervening years we have continued our pursuit of excellence and have gained a deserved reputation for hospitality, quality of service and value for money. Our small, experienced team of staff provide a warm, family style welcome to a Hotel which boasts unrivalled facilities for a building of its size in this part of rural Mid Wales

The Castle Inn - Wigmore, Herefordshire

A small, Rural 'Gastro Pub' offering Good Food, Fine Dining & Affordable Lodgings in the Herefordshire Village of Wigmore.

The Castle Inn is a small, 30 seat restaurant on the outskirts of Ludlow, Shropshire's Culinary Capital, with a loyal following and a growing reputation for good food and great value in a relaxed and welcoming country setting.

We have taken the traditional English Village Inn and given it a very refreshing and contemporary twist. Serving only the finest quality, locally sourced fare, expertly prepared by Head Chef John Forestier, The Castle Inn strives to provide a Fine Dining experience of unprecedented quality, and unbelievable value in relaxed and superbly appointed rural surroundings.
